Abstract

In the process of improving learner’s language competence, especially writing and speaking, learners need some abilities to utilize and understand conjunctions so that they effectively represent and understand meaningful connection between sentences. Conjunction and conjunctive adverbs are necessary for cohesion and consistency in the context. They seem to have similar functions.Conjunctive adverbs’ meaning should be understood within the context rather than individual elements like conjunction. Doing so, learners can experience meaningful and authentic language learning.
